In the preivious post I wrote "there are so many robot projects and developments in the news that it is impossible for robots not to become our leaders" well here's some more evidence, they've been killing us off for years, 1981 was the first reported death by way of robot and there were 77 robot related deaths in Britain last year, economist.com also reports on how we can protect ourselves from these killer robots.

First off I just realized I had this blog setup so nobody could post comments, no one probably tried anyhow.

Second here's some robot news I've come across, there are so many robot projects and developments in the news that is impossible for robots not to become our leaders.

This Samurai Robot is kind of lame looking, a little to boxy for my liking, the Reuters article mention that the company that made it says that it walks more human like than most, the video shows 2 men dressed in samurai kit walking behind it, to catch it if it falls is what it looks like, the hand in the final shot of the video looks kind of cool though. They could put this touch sensitive technology on those finger tips, the technology was achieved by...

... I think I know what that means but I can't explain it. That's what robots need, more sensitivity to know how to move better, robots now look as if they have carrots stuck up their bum bums.

I'd be pissed off if I were in hospital and I still had to go to school, that's what PEBBLES
(Providing Education By Bringing Learning Environments to Students) is for, it's a robot that has a video setup so kids in hospital can watch and participate in classes.
Now this is just ewww, a robot that crawls through human intestines , all I could think of when reading this was a documentary about tape worms I saw awhile back, very interesting but ewww.
I'm easily grossed out and if I were a surgeon I'd probably want to use telesurgery exclusively, this is were a surgeon can operate on a patient from miles away while using advanced computer technology and robots, kind of impersonal.

Creepy robot chicks seem to be popping up all over the place, this one is creepiest of them all. Developed in South Korea she can only move her upper body, has a limited vocabulary and range of emotions, there's a video of the lady robot you can watch but it plays an advert first.

These steam powered robots are cool as, kind of classic steam punk, these two are my favorites one two , nice classic looking wooden barrel and brass fixtures, they all look cool and are functional, lots of videos of them in action.

These are just some of my the links I needed to get through in my bookmarks, now it's time to go watch Robo Cop, I haven't seen that in years.

I don't know what this video is for but it kicks ass, the computer effects are great and work in well with the props and live footage, still not robotic war suits though (gotta keep it personal) but the idea behind it is scary, imagine sending out robots to do your dirty work, all that's lost is a few billion dollars in technology and a lot of enemy lives, scary.

This next video creeps the hell outta me, the description says it was shot at the Robot Festival in Toyama, Japan, I think it's a greeting bot. As I was watching it I kept getting glimpses of it being totally convincing, they must have used some motion capture for the movements.

I can't imagine what the porn industry might do with this kind of technology.

The bond between a robot and a soldier is a beautiful thing, huh? Ok this article is about bomb diffusing robots in Iraq, the robots are developed by a company called iRobot , the company is best known for those vacuum cleaning bots.

The image in the article is pretty cool, the robot looks movie like and all military.

Looking around the iRobot website I came across one of their projects called the R-Gator which is very similar to the Crusher from the previous post, its an unmanned automated military vehicle, it doesn't look as beeffy as the Crusher but atleast it has seats.

Find me dar buried treasure little bot

I wouldn't mind having this little robot or finding my buried treasure, supposedly it can sense out minerals, gold, copper etc and has also been used in finding weapons and body's.

There's some debate about whether it actually works or not because some science dudes say it doesn't work within the laws of physics. It was originally developed to find mines, reading through the article it seems it is a lot more powerful than finding things a few inches down.

I've been looking for a replica gun I buried in my yard for 15 years now, it was mint and my dad got awful pissed at me, this robot could find it quick as a pimp slap from my dad.

The Crusher, Robotic military vehicle video

This things like right out of a Robo-Cop movie, The Crusher is a robotic vehicle developed for future military purposes (getting close to a Robot War Suit). The full story can be found at: Scientific American They also have a 17 minute video of The Crusher Robot

Seems war is turning more in to a fun game, no human loss on one side could mean a loss of bounderies, automated killing machines.

There's also info on a contest called the Urban Challenge where contestants build automated vehicles to race round a course. Million bucks for the first prize.

An article about robotic tentacles at New Scientist is pretty interesting, they remind me of Legend Of The Overfiend, if some of y'all know what I mean.
A lot of robot hands look tarded when trying to pick items up, these look more versatile, and a lot more creepy.

Alcohol powered robotic muscles

Check out this article from Sciencentral.com , alcohol powered robotic muscles ( hehe that's cool, alcohol ). The shape memory wire reacts with chemicals, reminds me of I-Robot or something. What got me is that it can do over a hundred times more work than human muscles. The funding comes from the military and it's mentioned in the article that possible applications for this type of tech could be super-muscles for soldiers or astronauts.

Mars space suit prototype

A mars space suit designed by students from North Dakota. Ok it's not really robot related but it's farely interesting any how.
The suit looks styley, kind of retro modern tech. Would it scare Martions though, probably not, what would scare martions though would be a 20 foot robotic mars suit with laser connons.

After the last post of drunken ramblings I decided I should actually have a look around at what level Robot science is at, I was pretty shocked at what I found, the level it's at is far beyond what I imagined it to be, my thoughts were that it was still at a wheelie bot with a hammer level, I was so wrong.
I stick with what I said about the Japanese leading in this area coz so far I've only found information and robot videos of Japanese Robots ( ones that impress any how ).

Why aren't there any Robot War Suits around?

Or even Robot Suits for that matter, I'm farely sure it wouldn't take much to create one, it would be so cool. Not advocating war or anything but to run into battle with a strength, speed, defense, offense enhancing suit on would send the heeby jeebys into any enemy and it would also make watching wars on the news more interesting... War on T.V these days seems to consist of clean-up crews.

Also if they were made for people with bad joints, instead of making it so it just kind of worked properly, make it so they could kick ass in seven dimensions.

What I want to see is big as mech suits like the ones you see in apple seed cartoons. America should be leading in this field but the Japanese seem to be way ahead ( screw space lets make cool as robots)

You should catch me, I love Robots.

Make em better, make em bigger and make em kick ass.

Make me make sense.
